A Danish football player who played as a goalkeeper for a number of English clubs and for his country, Denmark.

Biography of Kasper Schmeichel

Kasper Schmeichel is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for English club Leicester City and for the Denmark national team.

He is the son of Peter Schmeichel, the former Manchester City goalkeeper.

He started with Manchester City and moved as a loan player between Darlington, Bury and Falkirk before 

playing his first match for Manchester City. Although he was close to wearing the number 1 shirt in the team at 

the beginning of the 2007-2008 season, the emergence of 

professional English goalkeeper Joe Hart caused 

him to be loaned to Cardiff City.

In January 2009, Manchester City signed a contract with Irish international goalkeeper 

Shay Kiffin, which was evidence of the decline in Schmeichel's shares in the club. 

In August 2009, he was allowed to communicate with former Swedish footballer Sven-Goran Eriksson and 

the current manager. For Notts County Club “McPeace”, he stayed with him for one season, which was 

one of the most successful for the club and for Schmeichel himself, as his contract with the club was terminated with 

the approval of both parties after he was referred to supervise the club’s financial affairs, which made his departure from the club necessary.

Schmeichel joined the English club Leeds United

In 2010, Schmeichel joined Leeds United for one season, where 

he moved in May in a deal with Eriksson, who became manager of Leicester City. 

He played 250 matches with the club and won the English Premier League championship 

in the 2013-2014 season and the Premier League championship in the 2015-2016 season.

Schmeichel played 17 matches for the Danish national team under the age of 21. 

He was also invited to play for the Danish national team for the first time in a match against the Iceland national team on May 13, 2011. 

He participated in the national team’s starting lineup in the European Nations Cup in 2012, making his first match in 2013.

By March 2018, Schmeichel had defended the Danish national team in more than 30 matches in various tournaments.

Kasper Peter Schmeichel was born on November 5,  1986 in Copenhagen, Denmark almaka news. 

His father is Peter Schmeichel, the former goalkeeper for Manchester City, and his mother is Benti Schmeichel.

He spent most of his childhood in England, which influenced his accent, and during the period when his father Peter played 

for Manchester City, Casper attended Hulme Hall Grammar School in Greater Manchester. 

When his father moved to Sporting Club in Lisbon, Casper studied at St Julian's School in Portugal.

Following in his father's footsteps, Schmeichel's interest in football began when he was young. 

He initially joined Portuguese club Estoril and moved two years later to Manchester United Youth Club on a long-term contract.

In 2005, he joined the first team of Manchester United after a 

period of loans between several clubs, namely Darlington, Cardiff City and Ventry City, through which he proved his talent.

Schmeichel met his childhood friend Alex Bruce, the son of former Manchester United player 

Stevie Bruce and a friend of his father Peter, after Alex moved to Leeds United. 

 In Leicester City's match against Nottingham Forest, Schmeichel received a red card in the 79th minute, after receiving two yellow cards. 

The first was when he moved the ball from the point of a penalty kick when Lewis 

McGugan was about to take it, and the second was when he threw the ball away after making a save. 

For a successful direct kick in an attempt to waste time, Schmeichel apologized after the match. 

 In December 2014, Schmeichel suffered an injury during training that kept him out of action for a period of time. 

He was replaced by goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, and returned from the injury on March 21, 2015.

Schmeichel joined Manchester City in September 2002 under a long-term contract, and in January 2006 he joined Darlington Football Club 

as a loan player, making his first appearance with the club in a match against Peterborough United on 14 January 2006.

Darlington Club won 2-1, with Schmeichel conceding a single goal scored by striker James Quinn.

The first time he kept a clean sheet was three days later in a match against Grimsby Town, and he participated in 

two matches after that before returning to Manchester City, to be loaned a month 

later to Bury FC for a period of three months, in which he participated 15 times with the club.

Schmeichel's football career

In January 2007, Schmeichel joined Falkirk as a loan player, and on February 18, 2007, Kasper won the Man of the Match title when he played with his team against Rangers. 

In August 2007, his first match with Manchester City was against West Ham United, and on August 25, 2007, Schmeichel participated 

in a match against Arsenal in which he was able to save his net from a penalty kick taken by Arsenal striker Robin van Persie.

In the 2007 Premier League, Schmeichel played the first seven matches with Manchester City, which

 were against Manchester United, West Ham, Aston Villa, and Derby County, during which he conceded only 5 goals.

In September 2007, he signed a 4-year contract with Manchester City, which included a one-month loan to Cardiff City. Before the term expired, Schmeichel asked to extend the loan period. 

He had what he wanted and extended the contract with the club until the following year. 

Later, Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson said that goalkeeper Joey Hart was 

the club's number one player, so goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson requested a transfer from the club. 

Eriksson then decided to bring Schmeichel back from loan after his contract with Cardiff City expired.

Schmeichel joins Coventry City on loan

Schmeichel joined Coventry City on loan until the end of the season, then returned to his club 

to wear the number 16 shirt, and in December 2008 he played his last match with Manchester City in the Europa League against Racing de Santander. 

On August 14, 2009, Schmeichel signed a contract with Notts County and its new manager, Sven-Goran Eriksson, former manager of 

Manchester City. The contract was worth £1 million per year, and his first match 

with the club was on 22 August 2009 against Dagenham & Redbridge, which ended with Notts winning 0-3.

In October, he won the Player of the Month award, and shortly before his match against 

Darlington, the club announced that Schmeichel would be allowed to transfer at 

the end of the season, even though his contract would not expire for 4 years.

Nomination of player Schmeichel for the best player award in the league

Schmeichel signed a two-year contract with Leeds United on May 27, 2010 and received shirt number 1. His first match as a first-choice goalkeeper 

was on August 7, 2010 in the English Premier League against Derby County, which ended in a 2-1 loss. His name was also nominated for 

the League Player of the Month award for August, but it went to Adel Taarabt, the Queens Park Rangers player.

On January 8, 2011, Schmeichel helped Leeds score a draw in the first leg against Arsenal in the FA Cup, losing the second leg 3-1 to Arsenal. 

However, Schmeichel achieved the title of FA Cup Player of the Year.

Leeds FC announced its approval of Leicester City FC's request to include Schmeichel in its ranks 

on June 20, 2011, which was a shock to him due to his desire to remain with Leeds FC until the end of his contract. 

After 7 days, he signed a three-year contract with the club under its new manager, former player Sven-Goran Eriksson, manager of 

Schmeichel’s previous clubs, but his start with the club was rocky. 

During the first month of the season, Schmeichel received a red card in a match against Nottingham Forest on August 20. 

August 2011, but his performance improved later. During that period, he participated in 52 matches, in 17 of which he kept a clean sheet and saved four penalty kicks. 

He also achieved the title of best player of the year and best player within his club.

Schmeichel's career is full of achievements. On May 2, 2016, he won the Premier League title with his club when he was 29 years old. 

Then he extended the contract for a new five years, meaning until 2021. 

His first participation in the FA Community Shield tournament was in a match against Manchester FC.

 United, which ended with Leicester City winning 2-1. He also participated in a match 

against Brighton Club in which Leicester City won 2-0, in which Michael was able to save a penalty kick.

Schmeichel participated with his country, Denmark, under the age of 19, in August 2004. 

His first participation was in a match against the Northern Ireland national team on September 2, 2004, and he continued with 

the national team until he was called to participate with the national team, under the age of 20, in October of the year.

replacement for the injured Theis Rasmussen, where he participated in 17 international matches between 2007 and 2008.

His participation in the 2018 World Cup

Recently, Schmeichel played with his country's national team participating in the 2018 World Cup held in Russia, and won 

the Man of the Match award after three matches in which he kept a clean sheet. 

In Denmark's match with Croatia, Schmeichel won the Man of the Match title after saving a 

penalty kick carried out by Croatian player Luka Modridic in extra time, then he was able to 

save two shots during the penalty shootout, but the match ended in favor of Croatia.
